Thats too long, in my opinion, because it takes the flys profile more in line with that of a hopper

If you have a small load with respect to your packs capacity (like a half-full 60L pack), its often a good idea to put all the contents inside, lay the pack on its backpanel to ensure the gear is distributed throughout, and then tighten up the compression straps on each side
You can always try out a brand at the store and then buy it second-hand elsewhere
