When to seek medical advice : Contact your GP or diabetes specialist nurse if you experience: Persistent vomiting preventing adequate fluid or medication intake Severe or persistent abdominal pain (with or without vomiting), which could indicate pancreatitis or gallbladder problems requiring urgent assessment Signs of dehydration (dark urine, dizziness, reduced urination) Unintentional weight loss exceeding 1kg per week Difficulty maintaining blood glucose within target range Symptoms of hypoglycaemia (particularly if taking sulfonylureas or insulin) People with diabetic retinopathy should be aware that rapid improvement in blood glucose control may temporarily worsen retinopathy and should attend regular eye screening
