Based on reading some of the websites it seems that their hypothesis is that because ALC is involved in the Krebs cycle in the mitochondria, which gets energy from fatty acids, that means ALC helps burn fat. There is not much in the scientific literature on this topic, but I did come across an article that found no difference in metabolic parameters in study participants taking L-carnitine versus controls (not exactly the same things as acetyl-L-carnitine, but they are used somewhat similarly in the body, there just isnt the extra acetyl group in the L-carnitine)
It is not just about making the stomach smaller. At JourneyLite, we spend a lot of time helping patients understand the difference between temporary appetite control and a more anatomy-based treatment
No mixing batches introduces unnecessary contamination risk and makes it impossible to track potency or purity per dose
Indeed, research found that supplementing with 2grams of L-carnitine + 80g carbohydrate twice daily for 24 weeks saw an increase in fatty acid utilisation, substantially reduced lactate production and an increased work output of 11% from baseline when compared to no change in the control group 7
Based on hazard ratios, this equates to roughly a 58% increased risk of developing all thyroid cancers and a 78% increased risk of developing medullary thyroid cancer compared to controls
