Hereditäre Nasale Parakeratose (HNPK) - Labrador Retriever Mischling Digital document managementHereditary nasal parakeratosis (HNPK) is an inherited autosomal recessive skin disorder. The disease leads to crusts and fissures on the nasal pad of Labrador Retrievers. Nasal lesions are usually first observed between 6 and 12 months of age. In severe cases, painful fissures will appear that can lead to chronic irritation, inflammation and secondary bacterial infections of nasal skin. In some affected dogs a loss of nose pigmentation will occur.
