Mother Ship signed Donald Byrd’s 1975 album Places"Mother Ship" war 1969 das sechste und letzte Album des experimentierfreudigen Hammond Organisten Larry Young fr das Label Blue Note. Zu hren ist er hier mit einem Quartett, aus dem insbesondere der brillante Trompeter Lee Morgan hervorsticht. Obwohl das Album vor unbndiger kinetischer Energie strotzte und auch eine paar gefhlvollere groovende Stcke aus der Feder des Organisten bot, wurde es erst 1980, zwei Jahre nach Youngs Tod, verffentlicht.
